Ever since it launched in 2008, Spotify has rapidly gained an increasing number of users and today it is the biggest music streaming platform by number of subscribers. As of 2020 the music streaming service has 286 million monthly active users out of which 130 million users are subscribed to its premier tier plan.
Users can choose from over 50 million songs and podcast to listen to as well as follow their favourite artists, playlists and friends. A key feature of Spotify is that it can be accessed on multiple platforms that include PC, smartphones, tablets etc. Spotify is not the only player in this streaming market however and despite having 36% share in the global streaming market it faces stiff competition from other services such as Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora among others.
Despite having a large global presence compared to its rivals, Spotify is still unavailable in a few of countries and was only recently launched here in India. Since its introduction it has gained a massive user base and is increasing in popularity day after day.
Probably Spotify’s most unique feature is the fact that it creates personalized playlists for every user based on the songs and genres they listen to. And most of the time these recommendations are bang on and this is what keeps a number of listeners hooked.
However, you’ve probably been in that situation where you’re listening to an unknown song and you try to remember the name so you can add it later to your playlist but then it totally slips out of your mind.
So how do you find it? If you’re listening on the desktop version of Spotify then users do have a dedicated option to view their play history, but there is no such option to view it on your the mobile app.
Well lucky for you, I’ve discovered a nifty trick around this that lets you view almost your entire history in just a few simple steps. Read on to find out!
Step 1: Open the Spotify app and at the bottom of your screen hit the Your Library option
Step 2: Once you are on the Library screen, select anyone of the playlists that you have created. This method won’t work with other saved playlists or the automatically created playlists by Spotify. As you can see here I select my playlist titled KelanReayJukeBox.
Step 3: After opening up your playlist select the Add Songs option located below the green Shuffle Play button.
Step 4: Now you will see a list of songs that you can add to your playlist. Ignore these and swipe thrice to the left til you come across a list titled “ Recently Played ”.
That’s it! This is the list of songs that you have recently played and you can keep scrolling down to view the entire list.
